In the first three volumes of this discuss, I specifically mentioned that the intent behind these clarifications is not to defend blindly the personality of al-Qaradaawi; rather, the purpose is to scrutinize and learn about those allegations, using al-Qaradaawi as a case study.
Al-Qaradaawi is a scholar par excellence, and a blessing for this Ummah. While his many students admire him as their spiritual mentor, others have accused him of exploiting his pulpit and his media stardom in order to promote terrorism and violence toward both Muslims and non-Muslims. He has been alleged of a lot of kufr and bid’ah both in creedal and fiqh issues. It is a blessing for those accusations to have come up; thereby we verify and learn from those issues and strengthen our knowledge.
A lot of books in Arabic, English, and other languages have been written to warn against and criticize the scholarship and knowledge of al-Qaradaawi. You will find famous books like:
1: الفيض الكاوي في كشف ضلالات يوسف القرضاوي.
2: القرضاوي في العراء.
3: تنبيه المسلمين من ضلالات يوسف القرضاوي.
4: إسكات الكلب العاوي يوسف بن عبدالله القرضاوي.
And etc.
Without mincing of word, I will say the champions and authors of those accusations and books lack sincerity in their submissions, and are beclouded by hatred and political differences. Just as we all know that scholars statements are interpreted with good intention and not with the intent to discredit the scholar, else no scholar will be free from accusation.
In response to these allegations, and a better way to handle controversies, I listed out the major accusations against al-Qaradaawi, seperated the creedal ones from the fiqh related ones, then discussed their Islamic rulings vis-à-vis the Qur’an and Sunnah; by reaching conclusions with the statements and understanding of the Salaf on those issues, thereafter determining if al-Qaradaawi is guilty as alleged. All these I penned in a book.
A book I titled: “WHAT IS THE SIN OF AL-QARADAAWI?….intelligent responses to frivolous allegations”
This book comprises:
— all the major accusations against al-Qaradaawi; right from his statement during the 1996 Israel election; his statement during the death of Pope John Paul II; his fatwa on suicide bombing; his fatwa on Gadaafi; the influence of his verdict during the concurrent of Arab Spring; his fatwa on Music; his view on Hamas and the Jews; democracy and human rights; feminism; the concept of jihad; and lots more.
— classical scholars with the same opinions of al-Qaradaawi.
— critical analysis and Islamic rulings of the allegations…. And etc
As much as many works of al-Qaradaawi are mind-blowing, unequivocally, he is not infallible.
The Launch date of this book will be announced later in Shaa Allah.
May Allah preserve the life of al-Qaradaawi on goodness and accept this effort as a worship.
